A joint operation between police and court staff last month saw 38 vehicles seized and netted thousands of dollars in fines and reparation.
Courts Minister Georgina te Heuheu said court staff and police spent four nights in June in North Shore and Manukau stopping vehicles.
Police did checks for drink-driving while court staff checked vehicle registrations to identify people with unpaid fines or reparation.
In total 38 vehicles and one laptop were seized and $14,859.55 was paid during the operation on June 11-12, and 18-19. A further $26,078 was received in the days following the operation.
"Courts continue to remain focussed on recovering outstanding fines and reparation and increasingly turn to more strategic means to do so," Ms te Heuheu said.
"By working regularly with the police, the community can see that addressing outstanding fines is a priority area for us."
