"When police arrived, a fence/gate on the property was on fire.
"This has since been put out and inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire,'' she said.
A nearby resident, who wanted only to be known as Mike, told the Herald he heard about five or six gunshots.
"I'm a bit of a light sleeper.
"I heard - at first, I thought it was fireworks. But it wasn't, it was five to six gunshots.
"The reason I say gunshots...is they were random, like: 'Bang, bang bang bang, bang, bang.''
Because he thought they were gunshots, he took note of the time. It was 4.23am.
The police Eagle helicopter arrived about three minutes later.
"There sounded like another three shots around 4.55am,'' he said.
He said it was "very clear'' they were gunshots.
Shortly after 6.30am, police said no one was injured in the incident.
Asked whether they were looking for a gunman, police did not address it; only to say that the incident was "thought to be suspicious".
A reporter at the scene said officers could also be seen at the back of the house.
