KEY POINTS:
Police in Blenheim are piecing together the circumstances surrounding a robbery yesterday that left a woman service station attendant with head injuries.
Police said a customer arriving at the Caltex station at the corner of Scott St and Francis St found the injured woman about 7.15am.
The woman told police she had been taken by surprise and knocked unconscious. She was treated at Wairau Hospital and discharged.
Detective Sergeant John Hamilton, of Blenheim police, said investigations were continuing, but police were having difficulty piecing together what had happened.
"The woman told us she had been knocked unconscious and security cameras had been interfered with," Mr Hamilton said.
"At this stage we do not have any descriptions of who else might have been involved."
Police were seeking witnesses in the area between 6.45am and 7.20am.
Mr Hamilton said police were working with service station management to establish what was missing.
"We suspect that canvas banking bags, vouchers and till receipts will have been discarded at some point and are looking for a partly used black spray can, minus its lid," he said.
