KEY POINTS:
An Auckland driver facing assault charges after allegedly causing a fatal crash is expected to face more serious counts when he reappears in court in two weeks.
Tony Worrell, 49, from the west Auckland suburb of Henderson, is due to reappear in Manukau District Court on July 16 for a pre-depositions hearing.
Worrell, who faces two counts of assault, is in custody, having had a bail application turned down on Friday.
The charges arose from an incident at Karaka, south of Auckland, on June 3, when Worrell's car collided with one driven by Katie Powles, 26, and another driven by Brent Robinson, 42.
Ms Powles, who had been recently married, did not survive the crash, while Mr Robinson was seriously injured.
A police spokeswoman confirmed today that police were continuing to consider laying further charges.
