KEY POINTS:
Police are appealing for information on an 11-year-old Lower Hutt girl who has been missing since Friday.
Aniwaniwa (Aniwa) Mihaere was last seen by her foster family at their home in Molesworth Street, Taita, around 7.30pm on Friday.
Detective Sergeant Scott Cooper said Aniwa is Maori, around 167cm tall, and of thin build with long brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a blue and white zip up hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the front, pink three quarter track suit pants, and black and white slip on shoes.
Mr Cooper said Aniwa's foster family were concerned for her safety.
She does not have a cellphone or any money, he said.
"We're hoping she's not too far away.
"We're checking with her friends and family but so far no-one seems to have seen her."
Aniwa had not made any specific plans for the school holidays so her foster family and friends were puzzled by her sudden disappearance, he said.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts should contact Lower Hutt police, Mr Cooper said.
