KEY POINTS:
Police are concerned for the safety of an elderly Greymouth man who hasn't been seen since yesterday morning.
David Edward Clark, 72, was reported missing by family members and police say it is out of character for him to disappear.
A caucasian of average build with white hair, Mr Clark was last seen in the town about 11am yesterday. He usually bikes around Greymouth, but his bicycle was found at his Marsden Rd home.
Sergeant Nigel Orpwood, of Greymouth police, told NZPA Mr Clark was in "reasonably good health," but took medication for a heart ailment.
"With the weather so hot, we're concerned he might have had a turn or something," Mr Orpwood said.
"It's unusual. He usually keeps fairly close contact with his family."
Anyone with information about Mr Clark's whereabouts was urged to contact Greymouth police.
