Police are closing in on the culprit who smashed nearly all the windows of an elderly man's home in Hastings at the weekend.
Barney Huriwaka, 79, was awakened when he was showered by broken glass at his state house in suburban Flaxmere on Sunday morning.
Hastings Senior Sergeant Stuart Fleming said police had been supplied with the name of a particular person in connection with the incident and were following that information.
No arrests had been made, he said.
Mr Huriwaka was asleep in bed when glass fell on to his head.
"I couldn't get out of bed quick enough because they smashed the one right next door to my bed. I was frightened my feet might get cut with the glass," he said
Mr Huriwaka went straight to the kitchen of his Tenby Terrace home to call police, who arrived 10 minutes later. Only then did he realise the extent of the damage.
"Unknown to me they'd done all the other windows, too."
