A police pursuit in Katikati today reached speeds of 150km/h, as patrol cars chased a motorcyclist at high speeds for 15km.
Tauranga police Acting Senior Sergeant Trinity Morrison said police saw the motorcyclist driving at 126km/h before starting the pursuit.
The driver allegedly dumped the bike in an attempt to evade capture, but was arrested after police dogs were used to track him.
A 38-year-old beneficiary will appear in Tauranga District Court on Wednesday, facing charges of driving while suspended, reckless driving, failing to stop, and possession of utensils used for consuming methamphetamine.
