KEY POINTS:
A man is likely to face multiple charges following a police chase in Wellington last night which ended with road spikes being used.
Inspector Marty Parker from the police central communications centre said the chase followed an incident where a man was allegedly threatened at a Johnsonville supermarket by another man who was wielding a knife.
"The alleged offender has got into a vehicle and left the area. A short time later police patrol units located the vehicle driving around the Wellington city area."
Mr Parker said the vehicle was chased for a couple of minutes before it stopped after running over road spikes.
He said the vehicle was believed to be linked to several other incidents that occurred around Wellington earlier in the evening.
A man was in custody and charges were likely to be laid later today.
