Police recaptured one of two teenage prison escapees in Te Kuiti this afternoon.
Waikato police spokesman Tony Sasso said David John Body, 18, was arrested without incident.
Body escaped from the youth unit at Waikeria Prison in the early hours of Thursday, June 14, with Samuel Peter Badawi, 17, who is still on the run.
Police are appealing to the public for any sightings of Badawi, who has connections to the Bay of Plenty.
The teenagers had been described as armed and dangerous, and earlier today were believed to be hiding in the New Plymouth area.
The pair had scaled a 2m-high fence topped with razor wire and got past electronic gates monitored by cameras.
They were believed to be armed after allegedly breaking into a Otorohanga farm house and stealing two guns, a chequebook and a 2007 black Nissan Tiida hatchback.
The car was found abandoned in a New Plymouth supermarket carpark about 8pm on Friday.
