KEY POINTS:
A police inquiry is under way after a police car pursuing an alleged burglar collided with a van in Hamilton on Saturday night.
Inspector Rob Lindsay said police were called after a suspected burglar was disturbed in a city suburb about 10.20pm.
Mr Lindsay said the police car collided with a van driven by a civilian soon after starting to chase a suspect. Two people were taken to hospital for observation.
