A police car has been involved in a head-on crash at Pukekoke, south of Auckland, with two officers injured.
The officers were responding to a call-out to another accident on Pukekohe East Road when their car was struck by a truck just before 5pm.
A female officer was trapped in the police car and has now been taken to Middlemore Hospital with serious but not life-threatening chest and abdominal injuries, said Acting Inspector Danny Meade from the police northern communications centre.
A male police officer who was driving the car has suffered minor injuries.
The road will be closed between Runciman Road and Belgium Road for some time while police and the Serious Crash Unit investigate.
