KEY POINTS:
Police believe a robber who has targeted Post Banks in South Auckland has struck again, this time in Hamilton.
The latest robberies were committed after detectives spoke to Steven Kurt Peri by phone last week telling him to give himself up.
Detective Sergeant Geoff Baber said the 28 year-old, who speaks with a distinctive Canadian accent, is armed and dangerous.
Mr Baber said Peri was believed to be responsible for at least three Post Shop robberies in the Auckland region since mid August and was now believed to have struck twice in Hamilton last week.
The first was at the National Bank on Victoria Street on the Thursday and the second at Glenview Post Shop on Saturday.
Mr Baber said Peri had got away with thousands of dollars from a National Bank in the city and Post Shops in Massey, Pt Chevalier and Khyber Pass since August 2.
In the latter three he handed notes demanding money to tellers and advised them he had a gun which he was prepared to use.
"We are sharing information with our colleagues in Hamilton as there are definite similarities in the robberies we're respectively investigating," Mr Baber said.
Peri is a Maori of thin to medium build, about 186cm tall.
He has short, dark hair and is generally clean-shaven, though he does sport a goatee at times. He wears prescription glasses.
Anyone with information should contact Mr Baber on 09 820 5781 and 027 486 0947.
Police are also continuing to hunt a second robber who has struck at two banks and one Post Bank in South Auckland.
He is described as a male Maori or Polynesian, aged between 18 and 30 years.
He has been captured on security video, twice wearing the same distinctive yellow coloured sweatshirt.
"Someone out there must recognise this man and we need to find him before he strikes again," a police spokesman said.
