Police have called a press conference this afternoon about the death of Halatau Naitoko, the innocent teenager mistakenly shot dead by a member of the Armed Offenders Squad in 2009.
A media release said Assistant Commissioner Alan Boreham would be joined at the 4pm conference by Mr Naitoko's mother Ivoni Fuimaono.
The purpose of the briefing was not immediately clear.
Mr Naitoko's family had won legal aid to sue the police and planned to seek $1 million in damages.
Their lawyer, Colin Pidgeon QC, previously said they arrived at that figure after considering overseas cases.
