KEY POINTS:
Alcohol-fuelled violence and underage drinking kept police throughout the Waikato busy on Saturday night.
Duty inspector Rob Lindsay said the worst areas were in Huntly and Hamilton, but police had also attended incidents in Morrinsville and Cambridge.
Police reinforcements from Hamilton were sent to assist Huntly police after trouble during a party in a community hall.
"There were large numbers of youths, aged between 14-20, highly intoxicated, aggressive and abusive to both police and the public," Mr Lindsay said.
"Rocks and bottles were thrown at police as they cleared the area of people, something that is unacceptable that we will be coming down hard on," he said.
Police were also called out to attend an out-of-control 17th birthday party in a hall in Glenview, Hamilton.
"Again we faced large numbers of out of control, aggressive youths which had to be dispersed amongst thrown bottles and abuse."
Mr Lindsay said police wanted people responsible for hiring out such facilities in the future to make sure adequate security and host responsibility measures were taken.
