KEY POINTS:
Police have charged a woman in connection with the P-lab explosion north of Auckland which left two men with life-threatening injuries.
The men were severely burned when the illegal laboratory exploded on a farm near Wellsford, 89km north of Auckland, on Saturday.
Detective Phillip Cox of Helensville police said a woman was due to appear in the North Shore District Court today charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Mr Cox would not comment on whether the woman was the same person who had dropped the men off at the town's medical centre and had been talking to police.
Police had not ruled out further arrests.
The men were taken to the town's medical centre by a woman and then flown to a resuscitation unit in Middlemore Hospital in South Auckland.
Middlemore Hospital spokeswoman Lauren Young said the injuries were life-threatening but they were expected to survive.
One of the men had burns to 60 to 65 per cent of his body, including his entire back, abdomen, upper arms and face. He went through six hours of surgery.
The second victim had burns to 40 to 50 per cent of his body.
The explosion forced staff at the Wellsford Medical Centre, on the Westpac rescue helicopter and at Middlemore to be decontaminated after being exposed to highly toxic chemicals.
Police found the building where the lab was installed on a property between Wellsford and nearby Te Hana.
