Police investigating the aggravated assault of a man at his Waihi home on Monday have arrested three people.
Detective Sergeant Glenn Tinsley of the Waihi CIB said the trio, a 42-year-old Waihi woman, her 24-year-old Auckland based son and a 17-year-old Waihi man were arrested in the town yesterday.
"They've been charged with burglary, assault, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault to injure," Mr Tinsley said.
The trio were bailed to appear in the Waihi District Court next Tuesday.
The 50-year-old victim was eating dinner with his children when he was attacked.
Mr Tinsley earlier said the victim was "punched about the head then struck with the blunt end of a tomahawk before being kicked several times".
He is due to undergo surgery for a broken jaw on the same day those accused of his assault appear in court.
Police received good cooperation from Waihi residents during the search for the trio and Mr Tinsley said no one else was sought in relation to the matter.
