Police have made arrests after six men, allegedly armed with a sledgehammer and crowbars, smashed their way into a Lower Hutt house and assaulted the occupants last night.
Detective Sergeant Anthony Tebbutt said police had today arrested three men, all aged 22. Charges of aggravated burglary were likely to be laid.
Enquiries were continuing and further arrests were also likely, he said in a statement.
