Police have arrested two drug "lynchpins" in a methamphetamine bust in the North island today, designed to stop the spread of the drug further south.
The 46-year-old and 43-year-old men, of Hamilton and Auckland, were arrested as part of "Operation Queen"- an investigation focused on stopping the distribution and sale of methamphetamine in Invercargill and Southland.
Police also recovered some methamphetamine and cannabis, equipment believed to be used to manufacture methamphetamine, and $4000 in cash.
The pair are believed to have been the main perpetrators of the supply chain of the drug into the Southland region, said Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis.
Between them, the two are estimated to have sold between $150,000 and $200,000 worth of methamphetamine in Invercargill.
