Auckland police arrested a man yesterday who threatened to attack them with a machete.
Inspector Scott Webb said police arrived at a house in Mangere about 3.55pm after reports of a domestic dispute. The man made direct threats at police and swung his machete at them, he said. The officers called for backup and began negotiating with the man, who gave himself up soon afterwards without resistance.
Mr Webb said no one was injured and the man was facing weapons-related charges.
