An armed elderly man was arrested last night following a caravan fire in Mangakino.
The local fire brigade was called to an address in the Waikato town just before midnight.
Emergency services were confronted by an armed man who wouldn't let crews go into the property to fight the fire.
The caravan was completely destroyed.
The Rotorua Armed Offenders Squad were then called, and arrested a 63-year-old man without further incident.
