Police have arrested a 19-year-old Wanganui man following the sexual assault of a female jogger.
The 22-year-old woman was grabbed from behind on a walking track at Christie's Hill on Friday morning and dragged into the bushes where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
CIB acting Detective Sergeant Jerry Bull said an overwhelming amount of information from the public led to the man being arrested.
He was to appear in Wanganui District Court tomorrow to face charges of abduction and rape.
Mr Bull said in a statement he hoped the arrest would "go some way to putting the community's mind at ease over what was a shocking day time attack in the city".
