KEY POINTS:
Police are appealing to trampers to search their memories for sightings of a Titahi Bay man who has been missing for two weeks.
Detective Andrew Fabish of Porirua police said Guy Keegan Short, 26, was reported missing on Friday by his father.
He was last seen on November 7 leaving the home he shared with his brother wearing tramping gear and carrying a backpack.
He may have been going to tramp in the Rimutaka or Tararua ranges, Mr Fabish said.
Mr Short was an experienced tramper and his family did not report him missing immediately because they assumed he had gone to get some time out by himself, Mr Fabish said.
"But it's been a while now."
Mr Fabish said Mr Short often went tramping, but usually it was with a group of people.
Police were appealing to trampers who may have bumped into Mr Short in the last two weeks on a track or in a hut to contact police.
However, police were not even sure if Mr Short was going tramping -- "he could be anywhere".
"He was last heard walking out the door that morning and his tramping gear is missing," Mr Fabish said.
Enquiries to ferries and airports had turned up no leads, he said.
Mr Short was described as a Caucasian, approximately 178cm tall with brown hair and blue eyes.
