KEY POINTS:
Police in Levin are urging the public to assist their investigation into a fire which severely damaged the town's Child Youth and Family (CYF) offices early yesterday.
Detective Constable Marianne Whitfield said the Kent and Little building on Chamberlain St was extensively damaged in the 2am fire and there was also smoke damage in neighbouring buildings.
"It's too early in the investigation to say what caused the fire, however the matter is being treated as suspicious," Ms Whitfield said today.
She said police wanted to hear from anyone who was in the Chamberlain St area late on Saturday or during the early hours of Sunday.
CYF said staff would be redeployed and the service would continue to be provided elsewhere in Levin.
