A Hamilton businessman suffered head injuries and abrasions after busting two men breaking into his shop late yesterday.
Waikato police Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene described the 6.50pm "prolonged assault" by the two offenders as a "cowardly attack on an outnumbered victim going about his normal business".
Mr Greene said the 31-year-old had earlier closed the dental premises and was disturbed by the men after they had broken in to the rear of the building.
The victim was robbed of his cellphone and wallet and left with a number of injuries including a laceration to his scalp, suspected hand fracture and other abrasions. He was treated at the nearby medical clinic on Davies Cnr.
Mr Greene said they managed to obtain CCTV images of the two offenders and hoped that anyone who recognised them would come forward.
