Auckland police have appealed to the public to help identify a woman who was hit and killed by a train last night.
Counties Manukau police Inspector Gavin MacDonald said the woman, believed to be 40 to 50 years old, was hit and killed by a train at the Puhinui railway station, just after 11pm.
Mr MacDonald said the woman was Maori or Polynesian, 165cm tall, of medium build and with short black hair.
The woman was wearing a purple beanie, a grey long-sleeved jersey with a half zip over the top of a green long sleeve jersey which had a floral design around the neck and long grey pants.
The woman was also wearing a gold-coloured ladies' wristwatch, a white metal pendant with the word "love" on a glitter-green background, two gold half-moon-shaped earrings and a yellow and gold-coloured necklace with black and clear stones, he said.
