Police are appealing for public help as they investigate a "scary" attack on a woman in the Wellington suburb of Mt Cook last night.
The 27-year-old woman was walking along a public walkway near the intersection of Rugby and Tasman Streets, which borders Wellington High School and Massey University, when she was attacked by a male from behind.
"The victim was then dragged a short distance, with her mouth covered, but managed to fight back and punch the offender. He then ran off," said Detective Sergeant Mark Scott, of Wellington CIB.
The attack happened just after 10pm.
The offender was described as a male Caucasian of medium height and build, with light coloured, but not blond hair. He was aged between 25 and 35 years.
