KEY POINTS:
Police are appealing for witnesses after the suspicious death of a 56-year-old man in Wanganui.
The man's body was discovered by friends in his central business district apartment yesterday afternoon.
Police refused to comment on the cause of death other than to say it was being treated as suspicious.
Inspector Duncan MacLeod said police wanted to speak to anyone who had seen anything unusual in the vicinity of Ridgway Street and St Hill Street since May 10.
The apartment and surrounding area remained cordoned off this morning as forensic scientists continued a scene examination.
A green army tent with a generator to supply power has been erected in Ridgway Street as a makeshift command centre.
Nearby workers were unable to access their vehicles parked in the area until about 5.30pm yesterday, and each car was photographed as it left the scene.
