The Retailers Association is joining forces with the police in an effort to reduce retail theft.
An agreement has been signed which allows for ongoing consultation between the public and private sectors to mitigate the growing problem. Customer and staff theft is estimated to cost the industry $2 million a day.
Association spokesman Barry Hellberg says the document formalises a process which the association has been involved in for the past year. He says he wants crime to come down and community safety increased.
