A car crashed into a bus this morning after police gave up a chase because it was too dangerous.
The car had been stopped by police, but while being spoken to by officers the driver sped off.
A chase began but was abandoned by police moments later.
Inspector Scott Webb said the decision to give up the pursuit was taken "due to the manner of driving as it was deemed too dangerous to continue".
The car carried on and struck a stationary bus at the intersection of Kitchener and Neal streets in Auckland City.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The car was impounded.
There were no other injuries.
