The number of pokies in pubs and clubs across Auckland continued to fall last year as did the amount Aucklanders lost on the machines.
New Internal Affairs data show the total number of non-casino gaming machines in greater Auckland fell by 95 to 3964.
Small increases in machine numbers in Manukau and the North Shore were more than offset by fewer machines elsewhere including Auckland City, Franklin and Waitakere. Gaming machine proceeds - or player losses - at $238.8 million were $7 million lower.
Nationally, machine numbers fell from 17,670 to 17,266 and losses fell from $839.7 million to $811.6 million.
