Two notable statistics were achieved during the sixth round of matches in the Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Union's Tui Cup premier division competition on Saturday.
The number of points scored topped the 1000 mark - now sitting on 1061 - and the number of tries recorded reached 150.
Leading individual scorer in the Tui Cup is East Coast fullback Nick Olson who is sitting on 54 points, one more than Gladstone's Cameron Hayton. Then come Joseph Thompson (Pioneer), 45, and Glen Walters (Greytown), 43. However, when you take the Kapene Cup series into consideration as well it is Hayton who leads the way with 170 points, followed by Thompson 130 and Tipene Haira (Martinborough) 117.
Promising Greytown midfield back Teihana Brown, who has had a two-week stint at the International Rugby Academy in Palmerston North where he came under the guidance of former All Black Eroni Clarke and was announced as the "most promising player", is the top try-scorer in the Tui Cup with seven, one more than Nathan Hunt (Martinborough) and Damian Kamo-Paku (Pioneer).
