National Poetry Day is Friday, August 22, and Wairarapa businesses from Featherston to Masterton will be displaying their favourite poems in their windows from Monday, August 18.
On August 22, Hedleys Book Shop in Masterton will hold Paper Bag Poems from 12.15pm to 1.15pm.
Various leaders in the community, including the mayor, sportspeople, school leaders and business owners, will read their favourite poems.
Hedleys invites people to bring a paper bag lunch to the bookshop.
