The security situation in Saudi Arabia does not yet make it necessary to tell New Zealanders to leave, Prime Minister Helen Clark says.
She said yesterday the travel advisory was under constant review, but events in Saudi Arabia had not reached the level of danger in Iraq.
"Iraq has a great deal of conflict, insurgency, combat deaths, innocent civilians caught up in the problems," she said.
"In Saudi it's a pattern of terrorist attacks. The Foreign Affairs warning reiterates that people should defer other than essential travel, it hasn't said don't go there, which is the level of warning that exists for Iraq."
The Prime Minister said advising people to leave required "fairly serious" consideration.
The Australian Government said yesterday more attacks might be planned and advised its citizens to consider leaving Saudi Arabia.
