PM a no-show for Lucy Lawless, cheque

It seems celebrity does not wash with the Prime Minister.

Lucy Lawless turned up at Parliament today with Greenpeace, bearing a $5,000 cheque and a bunch of flowers for John Key to send him to next month's climate change meeting in Copenhagen.

The actress got through security to invite him down to see her, but he did not show.

Mr Key says he is not going to Copenhagen, as he says the meeting will not produce any resolution of the climate change issue.

Ms Lawless felt $5,000 was enough to send Mr Key to the Danish capital, providing he did not have a girlfriend.
