KEY POINTS:
An inquiry has been launched into the activities and performance of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board.
The Office of the Auditor General has announced it will look at the way the body registers and licenses tradesmen, as well as the way it sets its examinations for those who wish to enter the industry.
It is not the first time the board has been under official scrutiny, official concerns have been raised several times in the past eight years.
