A fire at a house in Plimmerton, north of Wellington, last night is being treated as suspicious, police say.
Fire services were called to the blaze on Airlie Road shortly before 7pm and it was well involved when they arrived, central fire communications shift manager Andrew Tollison said.
Four appliances attended and the scene was guarded overnight after a fire safety investigation.
Porirua CIB would be at the scene at first light today, a police communications spokesman said.
All the occupants of the house were accounted for and no injuries had been reported, Mr Tollison said.
