Previous versions of the Audi A4 have not been known for generous cabin space. But the carmaker claims the forthcoming Avant wagon version of its latest A4 has largest-in-class load space and wheelbase.
The A4 Avant's 1430-litre cargo capacity has been achieved with the new Audi platform used on the A4 sedan and A5 coupe, which incorporates redesigned suspension and a front axle shifted forward. When all seats are filled, the load area has a 490-litre capacity.
The cargo floor is reversible. A powered tailgate is optional and loads can be secured using the standard luggage net and tie-down straps, or the telescopic bar and securing belt system first seen in the A6 Avant, which is an extra-cost option on most models.
