Masterton licensees have been praised following a recent controlled purchase operation (CPO) designed to ensure that a reasonable range of food was available while alcohol was being sold in on-licensed premises.
The CPO was carried out by Masterton District Council, Police and Regional Public Health. Volunteers were sent into six premises to confirm that a range of food was available, that food was promoted and was served within a reasonable time of placing an order.
All complied fully with the requirement to provide food in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
The CPO took place after dinner service would normally be considered finished, as the requirement for an on-licensed premises is to have food available at all times that alcohol is sold.
Those involved in the CPO commended the license holders.
