Plea for stolen album and video camera footage

A family visiting from Japan have pleaded for thieves to return a child's photo album which included his umbilical cord and video camera with irreplaceable family footage.

Peter Schinckel, formerly of Whangarei, was on holiday with his three children, wife Yoko and her elderly parents and uncle.On January 3, luggage, including passports, air tickets and Christmas presents, was stolen from their car, parked in the Downtown shopping centre carpark in Auckland.

Mr Schinckel said a Victor hard disk video camera was taken which included footage of his wife's father Kanzo senior, who has cancer.

Mr Schinckel pleaded for the camera and album to be sent to the Auckland Central police. The camera may not work here due to the voltage and software needed.
