Plea for libraries, galleries

The Government needs to ensure local government continues to provide free public access to community facilities, the New Zealand Society of Authors says.

Proposed law changes included allowing councils to strip local spending back to core services, which put at jeopardy free access to libraries and art galleries, it said.
