KEY POINTS:
An engine fire warning light forced an Eagle Air flight from Oamaru to Christchurch to divert to Timaru this morning.
Air New Zealand spokeswoman Andrea Dale said one engine was shut down during the flight which is standard procedure.
Ms Dale said there was no engine fire on board the plane, contrary to information earlier provided by police.
She said engineers will inspect the Jetstream 32 plane and the 19 passengers are travelling to Christchurch by road.
