KEY POINTS:
Family of one of two Mexican men killed in a light plane crash in the Canterbury foothills are expected to arrive in New Zealand as investigators try to piece together the cause. The two men died when the Piper Cherokee plane they were travelling in between Hokitika and Christchurch crashed in rugged terrain near Lake Coleridge on Wednesday.
Civil Aviation Authority investigators are trying to establish if the plane, owned by the Canterbury Aero Club, caught fire before or after crashing. The weather was good at the time.
