KEY POINTS:
A plane has crash-landed on Little Mercury Island north of Auckland after a mayday call reporting engine failure at 12.53pm today.
It is not known how many people were onboard the plane but a police spokesman said they were believed to be uninjured.
Coastguard, the police launch Deodar and the police Eagle helicopter are all assisting with the incident.
The type of aircraft involved is not yet known.
