Police hunting three young thugs who bashed a pizza delivery man say they will be either bragging or showing signs of nerves.
The 51-year-old pizza delivery man was dragged from his car in Manurewa, south Auckland, on Tuesday night and kicked in the head in a savage attack police said could easily have been fatal.
The three attackers were believed to be between 17 and 24 and fled with the victim's car, a white Mitsubishi Mirage, registered number TQ337 which has still not been found.
Detective Sergeant Richard Wilkie said today anyone noticing the trio, either bragging or showing some nerves about what they had done, should call police.
"These type of people can't help it."
He said police were following up leads and were confident of finding the perpetrators.
The three got away with just a small amount of money.
"It was an absolutely negligible amount of money for these guys to go and beat him to unconsciousness, take his cash and take his car," Mr Wilkie said.
The victim had been released from hospital but was traumatised and reluctant to go out.
He was getting help from victim support.
