Wellington police are hunting for a man who attacked a pizza delivery worker and stole his takings.
Detective Sergeant Donna Howard said the 17-year-old had just completed a delivery in Mt Victoria on Monday night and was returning to his car when he was hit in the side of the face and a bag containing his takings was snatched away from him.
Ms Howard said the offender then ran with a male associate who had been standing nearby.
The attacker was described as Maori or Pacific Islander, 18- 22-years-old, of medium build with a thin moustache on his top lip.
He was wearing a black or dark coloured hooded sweatshirt with a white emblem or design on the front chest area and a baseball cap with black on bottom side of the peak.
He had mid-length hair which was about four to five centimetres below the cap.
His associate was wearing a dark coloured hooded sweatshirt and jeans was slightly smaller in size than the offender.
Ms Howard said police were interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the attack or had any information about the people involved.
In 2001 pizza delivery worker Michael Choy was attacked by six people as he made a delivery to an address in South Auckland.
He died after being struck on the head with a baseball bat.
Six people, including Bailey Kurariki who was 12-years-old at the time, were convicted of murder or manslaughter over Mr Choy's death.
