A former Pitcairn Island man who was found guilty of historic child sex charges against girls as young as seven has been sentenced to 6-1/2 years in prison.
Brian Michael John Young, 53, formerly of Auckland, was sentenced today on six counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault.
A trial for Young was held at the Pitcairn Supreme Court, sitting in Papakura, south Auckland.
After being convicted in January of the charges Young was transported to Pitcairn Island where he will serve out his sentence.
He was sentenced by video link from Papakura today.
Shawn Brent Christian, 31, student of Newcastle, Australia, is facing sentence on similar charges later today.
