The withdrawal of Pirinoa means a bye will operate in the Wairarapa regional one tennis competition this season.
It has left five teams remaining, defending champions Martinborough, Gladstone, Masterton, Opaki and Carterton.
Pirinoa won the regional title for the first time two seasons ago but struggled to field a full complement of players on occasions last year, a situation which promised to be even more difficult in 2009.
Spokesman Luke Atkinson cited work and family commitments as the main reasons for Pirinoa's withdrawal.
"We just didn't have the numbers to guarantee we could field a team on a regular basis, that really was all there was to it," he said.
Atkinson said Pirinoa might have been better placed had a proposal to play regional one matches on Friday evenings been implemented this season.
"It just happens that Saturday isn't the best day for us & we have a lot of things going on then," he said.
The loss of Pirinoa will, however, assist Masterton with Atkinson and his hugely talented daughter Sade set to play for them along with regular Wairarapa representative Geoff Janse.
