Pippa Wetzell will be the new co-host of TV One's Breakfast show.
Her appointment follows Kay Gregory's departure.
Wetzell has worked as Gregory's back up for the past year.
Before taking maternity leave in 2006 she worked as a reporter for One News.
"It is a fantastic opportunity. I have always loved working on and watching Breakfast. I am thrilled to be joining Paul and the team," she says.
TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs Anthony Flannery said: "Pippa has the rare combination of hard news experience and on-screen magic that makes a great breakfast television host. She started her television career on Breakfast, and knows the programme inside out. Pippa, Paul Henry, and Peter Williams are a dream team."
