KEY POINTS:
A helicopter has crashed at West Melton, near Christchurch, injuring the pilot.
Inspector Michael Coulter said the helicopter is believed to be a Robinson R22 - a two seater helicopter.
Mr Coulter said the pilot is understood to have moderate injuries and the ambulance service is at the scene.
